“Mankind was one single nation, & Allah sent
Messengers with glad tidings & warnings; & with them He sent the Book
in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the
People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among
themselves, except through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace Guided the
believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For Allah guided
whom He will to a path that is straight.” [2:213]
“We send the messengers only to give good news & to
warn: so those who believe & mend (their lives),- upon them shall be no
fear, nor shall they grieve.” [6:48]
“(It teacheth) that ye should worship none but Allah.
(Say): "Verily I am (sent) unto you from Him to warn & to bring glad
tidings:” [11:2]
“One day We shall raise from all Peoples a witness
against them, from amongst themselves: & We shall bring thee as a witness
against these (thy people): & We have sent down to thee the Book explaining
all things, a Guide, a Mercy, & Glad Tidings to Muslims.” [16:89]
“Say, the Holy Spirit has brought the revelation from
thy Lord in Truth, in order to strengthen those who believe, & as a Guide &
Glad Tidings to Muslims.” [16:102]
“Verily this Qur'an doth guide to that which is most
right (or stable), & giveth the Glad Tidings to the Believers who work
deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a magnificent reward;” [17:9]
“So have We made the (Qur'an) easy in thine own tongue,
that with it thou mayest give Glad Tidings to the righteous, & warnings to
people given to contention.” [19:97]
“It is not their meat nor their blood, that reaches
Allah: it is your piety that reaches Him: He has thus made them subject to you,
that ye may glorify Allah for His Guidance to you & proclaim the good news
to all who do right.” [22:37]
“And He it is Who sends the winds as heralds of glad
tidings, going before His mercy, & We send down pure water from the sky,-”
[25:48]
“But thee We only sent to
give glad tidings & admonition.” [25:56]
“When Our Signs are
rehearsed to such a one, he turns away in arrogance, as if he heard them not,
as if there were deafness in both his ears: announce to him a grievous Penalty.”
[31:7]
“O Prophet! Truly We have
sent thee as a Witness, a Bearer of Glad Tidings, & Warner,-” [33:45]
“Thou canst but admonish
such a one as follows the Message & fears the (Lord) Most Gracious, unseen:
give such a one, therefore, good tidings, of Forgiveness & a Reward most
generous.” [36:11]
“And before this, was the
Book of Moses as a guide & a mercy: And this Book confirms (it) in the
Arabic tongue; to admonish the unjust, & as Glad Tidings to those who do
right.” [46:12]
